The humiliating detention of Manssur Osanlou in Iran
“The Human Rights Picture Grim in Iran: Mansour Osanlou had his daylights darkened by the Iranian authorities. After a round of beating, he was put behind bars. Osanlou, apparently, doesn’t seem to have any criminal history; he is neither a mafiosi or a terrorist. His only fault: he is a union leader, who is not in the good books of the Mullah regime. He has been incarcerated without any formal charges being labeled against him. This is a travesty of the fundamental human rights, which are universally deemed mandatory. However, Ahmadinejad’s regime seems to have a contrasting view”.
The security personnel that were entrusted with the job of arresting Osanlou didn’t bother with spelling a plausible reason for his arrest. The personnel, dressed in plane clothes, arrived unannounced and arrested Mansour, who was traveling in a bus. They told the passengers, rather unimaginatively, that Mansour was a thief. I should refrain from any digs, but, those cops could have, at least, come up with a more believable tale.
Mansour is the leader of a trade union unapproved by Tehran; despite that, his own rights , ironically enough, were trampled over with contemptible disdain.
Many right wing posses have voiced their concerns and disapproval over this issue. It is heartening to see that the people are not perturbed by such governmental connivance. Instead, they are rallying against such unacceptable acts that infringe basic human rights of innocent people”.
‹“The humiliating detention of Osanlou on a bus and his beating is another example of the worrisome treatment that tramples the most basic human rights of citizens,” said the Defending Prisoners’ Rights Society, a nongovernment rights group”›.

TEHRAN, Iran: An Iranian rights group condemned the beating and imprisonment of Mansour Osanlou, saying Tuesday the union leader’s treatment was another example of human rights violations in the Islamic Republic.
Osanlou, leader of the Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, was beaten up in broad daylight by security agents on July 10 and later taken to jail on unspecified charges, the group said.
The syndicate is an independent trade union not recognized by the Iranian government.
“The humiliating detention of Osanlou on a bus and his beating is another example of the worrisome treatment that tramples the most basic human rights of citizens,” said the Defending Prisoners’ Rights Society, a nongovernment rights group.
The uncommon criticism is part of a growing tide of outspokenness against the country’s hardline rule and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The society is led by Emadeddin Baqi, a reformist writer and political activist who spent years in jail for his writings.
Osanlou’s syndicate, the first independent union in Iran in about three decades, is an affiliate of the International Transport Workers Federation, or ITF.
International rights groups have condemned the arrest and the ITF spokesman in London has said the union wrote to Ahmadinejad to protest the Onsalou’s detention.
Iran’s judiciary has not made any comment on the arrest so far. Calls to judiciary officials Tuesday went unanswered.
The unionist’s wife, Parvaneh Osanlou, said Tuesday that plainclothes security agents arresting he husband had said he was “a thief” as they pulled him off a bus to detain him.
“No charges have yet been leveled against him so far,” she said. “He has no access to a lawyer.”
She said that during his previous detentions, her husb
